FOOD SERVICE FOR AITKIN COUNTY

A variety of food assistance options are available to help ensure residents have access to nutritious meals. Programs are designed to meet different needs, including a supplemental food program for non-perishable groceries, frozen meal delivery for adults aged 60 and older, and hot meal delivery.

Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP)

The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), managed by Second Harvest Northland, provides monthly distributions of non-perishable food to eligible residents of Aitkin County.

To qualify, you must be at least 60 years old and have a monthly income that is 130% or less of the federal poverty level.

Distributions take place on the first Tuesday of each month at these locations and times:

  • McGregor: 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.

  • McGrath: 9:45 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.

  • Aitkin: 11:15 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

Frozen Meal Delivery

AEOA provides convenient and nutritious frozen meals delivered every other week throughout Aitkin County. This service is available to adults 60 years and older, as well as their spouses of any age.

To be eligible for reduced meal pricing, you must complete a NAPIS (National Aging Program Information System) Intake Form, a required document by the Administration for Community Living.

While the suggested donation is $4.50 per meal, no one will be denied service due to an inability to pay.
